Congratulations!
…and thank you for buying a Victory V4 Series Pedal Preamp. We’ll have you sounding great in a
jiffy. But first, please be aware that it is NOT like a ‘normal’, everyday overdrive pedal. It is an
all-valve preamp capable of far richer, amp-like tones and is primarily designed to sit in place of
– not in front of – your guitar amp’s existing preamp.
You can use it in to the front of your amp if you want – it won’t damage anything and you might
love it – but it’s not how we designed it to work best. With that in mind, let’s get
going…...............
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
We want you to enjoy your amplifier to the best of its potential. So please………………
• Read and follow all these instructions and guidelines. Please keep them safe.
• Do not attempt to clean the amplifier with any fluids: use only a dry cloth.
• Please be aware of possible staining of leather or tolex/vinyl and of other surfaces due to the abrasion of rubber feet and the plasticiser
used in the manufacturing process.
• The intended use of this equipment is for the amplification of musical instruments. Any other use is prohibited and considered as
‘improper use’.
• It is the nature of valve amplifiers to get hot, so please take care when moving the amp after use.
• Ensure that an adequate power supply is used with this equipment.
• The recommended operating temperature conditions for this amplifier are from -10C (unspecified humidity) to 40C, (90% humidity) and
50C, (20% humidity).
• Damage Requiring Service: Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the following
conditions:
(a) When the power-supply cord or plug is damaged or the product has been dropped or damaged in any way.
(b) If liquid has been spilled, (including exposure to rain or water) or objects have fallen into the product.
(c) If the product does not operate normally by following the operating instructions. Adjust only those controls that are covered by the
operating instructions. Improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified
technician to restore to normal operation.
(d) When the product exhibits a distinct change in performance - this indicates a need for service.
Replacement Parts: When replacement parts are required, be sure the service technician uses replacement parts specified by the
manufacturer or have the same characteristics as the original part. Unauthorized substitutions may result in fire, electric shock, or other
hazards.
ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION
The crossed out wheeled bin symbol indicates that this product is classified as Waste Electrical and Electronic
Equipment (WEEE) in the UK and the European Union and should not be discarded with household waste. Other
territories may vary. Please contact your local authority or Victory Amplification for more information.
Warning symbols used in this document and on the product. The exclamation point within an equilateral
triangle means “Warning/Caution!” It is intended to alert the user to the presence of a dangerous situation that
could result in injury or death if it is not avoided.
Keep the device away from children as small parts may present a choking hazard. Keep all packaging materials away
from children; risk of suffocation. Ensure all packaging material is disposed of correctly.
This equipment is capable of producing high volumes; be aware of possible hearing damage and do not operate
the device for extended periods at high volumes.
Do not use this amplifier near water or any other liquid. Do not block any vents or openings. Fire Hazard! Keep
the device away from fire!
Do not remove any covers or you could be exposed to dangerous high voltages inside the amplifier that may
result in severe injury or death. Do not attempt to modify or service this product yourself. Refer all servicing
to qualified service personnel.

What’s included?
Your new Victory Preamplifier comes with the following:
A 12V 2Amp ‘Centre Negative’ Universal Power Supply with interchangeable plugs for all
countries. It is essential that the supplied PSU is used to power the V4 as it has a very high
power requirement.
This User Guide, (please check the website periodically as these owner’s manuals are constantly
being updated to give you more information about your Victory product). The issue number can
be found on the last page.
Please note that the V4 Countess pedal has been re-named ‘The Jack’ in line with the V30 Jack
lunchbox amp and the big brother V130 Jack amplifier. This is purely a cosmetic change and the
operation is identical to the original V4 Countess pedal.
The Sheriff has also changed to add some new funky graphics. Again, operation is identical to
the original V4 Sheriff pedal.
There are 4 pedals in the V4 Series range and these are based on the popular ‘lunchbox’
amplifiers, the V30 Countess, The Sheriff, The Kraken and The Copper. Operation is identical for
all 4 pedals and they all have the same complement of Tone & Volume controls. The differences
between them are to be found in the overall gain available and the tonal variations that set the
amplifiers that they are based on apart.
The Copper has a slightly different arrangement of controls with the EQ section on the second
row.
The following connection guide is identical for all models.
How to connect to your Amp
First, choose either ‘Amp Through Mode’ or ‘Standalone Mode’, details as follows
Using your V4 Series Pedal Preamp in AMP THROUGH MODE
This puts the V4 in your amp’s effects loop, but still gives you access to your amp’s own preamp.
Pedal switched on: V4 is bypassing your amp front end, hitting your amp’s power section.
Pedal switched off (bypassed): Signal flows to your amp front end input as normal.
Most of the packaging material used for this product is recyclable; the cardboard carton, the
plastic bag and any paper documentation. Do not dispose of these materials with your normal
household waste. The foam corners used are not recyclable and should be disposed of in your
normal household waste.
