2.1 Signal Words

1 Carburetor Adjusting Screw
For tuning the carburetor.
2 Front Hand Guard
Helps protect the operator's left hand from
projecting branches and contact with the saw
chain. Serves as the activation lever for the
chain brake.
3 Muffler with Spark Arresting Screen
Reduces engine exhaust noise and diverts
exhaust gases away from the operator. The
spark arresting screen is designed to reduce
the risk of fire.
4 Bumper Spike
Helps hold the saw steady against the wood
during cutting.
5 Guide Bar
Supports and guides the saw chain.
6 Saw Chain
Toothed cutting tool consisting of cutters, tie
straps and drive links.
7 Side Chain Tensioner
Permits precise adjustment of saw chain ten‐
sion.
8 Chain Sprocket
Drives the saw chain.
9 Chain Sprocket Cover
Covers the chain sprocket.
10 Nut
Tightens the chain sprocket cover to the
chain saw.
11 Chain Catcher
Helps contain the saw chain and reduce the
risk of operator contact in the event the chain
breaks or comes off the bar.
12 Chain Scabbard
Covers the guide bar and saw chain to
reduce the risk of injury from inadvertent con‐
tact during transportation and storage.
13 Spark Plug
Ignites the fuel-air mix in the engine.
14 Shroud Lock
Lock for the shroud.
15 Shroud
Covers the air filter and engine.
16 Gunning Sight
Helps the operator determine the direction of
fall when making a felling notch.
17 Spark Plug Boot
Connects the spark plug with the ignition
lead.
18 Air Filter
Filters the air drawn into the engine.
19 Master Control Lever
Lever for choke control, starting throttle, run
and stop switch positions.
20 Throttle Trigger Lockout
Prevents activation of the throttle trigger until
depressed.
21 Rear Handle
Handle for the operator's right hand.
22 Rear Hand Guard
Helps protect the operator's right hand in the
event the chain breaks or comes off the bar.
23 Throttle Trigger
Controls the speed of the engine.
24 Fuel Filler Cap
For closing the fuel tank.
25 Starter Grip
The grip of the pull starter for starting the
engine.
26 Oil Filler Cap
For closing the oil tank.
