Safety Instructions
Follow the instructions in this guide and other applicable documentation of the
device.
• For professional use with Snom D8xx phones only. Do not connect to PC or
to other phones!
• Mount the device only at heights not exceeding 2m.
• Avoid placing the cables where people may trip over them or where they may
be exposed to mechanical pressure as this may damage them.
• This device is for indoor use only. NOT FOR OUTDOOR USE!
• Do not install the device in rooms with high humidity (like bathrooms, laundry
rooms, damp basements, etc.). Do not immerse the device in water and do not
spill or pour liquids of any kind onto or into the device.
• Do not install the device in surroundings at risk for explosions (paint shops,
for example). Do not use the device if you smell gas or other potentially
explosive fumes.
• Do not use the device during thunderstorms. Lightning striking the power
grid may cause electric shocks.
• To deactivate the device, remove the USB cable and/or the power adapter.

Disposal of the device
This device is subject to European Directive 2012/19/EU and may not
be disposed of with general household garbage. If you do not know
where to dispose of the device at the end of its lifespan, contact your
municipality, local waste management provider, or vendor.
Cleaning
To clean the device, use an anti-static cloth. Please avoid cleaning liquids as
they might damage the surface or internal electronics of the device.
Connecting the device to the phone
1. Remove the rubber cover from the USB port on the phone (g. C1).
2. Remove the plastic cover around the USB port (g. C2).
3. Plug the USB plug of the expansion module into the USB port on the phone
(g. C3). Use the screws included in the delivery to securely attach the
module. The module is supplied with power via the USB connection.
When more than one expansion module is connected to the phone:
Up to three expansion modules can be daisy-chained to one phone. Daisy-
chain the modules rst. Do not use a USB hub
a. Remove the rubber cover and the plastic cover from the USB port (g.
C1 and C2) of the rst expansion module and plug in the USB plug of
the second module. Use the screws included in the delivery to securely
attach the module.
b. Remove the rubber cover and the plastic cover from the USB port (g. C1
and C2) of the second expansion module and plug in the USB plug of the
third module. Use the screws included in the delivery to securely attach
the module.
c. Attach a power adapter (available separately) to the and second module
to a wall outlet before connecting the daisy-chain to the phone (g. C6).
d. Note: If a USB device like a speakerphone or conferencing device is
connected to the rst (g. C5) or third module (g. C8) in the chain, it may
also need a power adapter.
4. The LEDs on the expansion module(s) will light up briey, then turn o,
indicating that the function keys are now ready for use.

The conguration is done on the Function Keys page of the connected phone‘s
web interface. Please refer to the phone‘s manual, chapter "Conguring the

separately and connected to the DC power jack of the D89x phone when one
or more D8Cs are connected to it.
Detaching the D8C:
