This Power Outlet Strip when properly installed provides the Patient Equipment Grounding

point “redundant ground” via dual ground connection to the duplex electrical wall outlet.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS

This manual contains instructions and warnings that should be followed during the installation,

operation and storage of this product. Failure to heed these instructions and warnings will void the

product warranty.

This HCOA and its specifications have been developed from a new UL 2930 standard. If the installer, technician or

electrician responsible for the proper use and installation of this product has not read and become familiar with this

new standard, we strongly encourage them to do so.

• An HCOA is intended to be connected temporarily to a permanently-installed branch circuit Hospital Grade

receptacle outlet to form a part of a medical system and where the medical equipment has been verified as having

touch and leakage current suitably low for patient care use.

• An HCOA is not intended to be series-connected (“daisy-chained”) to other HCOAs, Relocatable Power Taps,

Furniture Power Distribution Units or Extension Cords.

• An HCOA is not intended to be placed directly upon the floor of a patient care space.

• An HCOA is not intended to be connected via a grounding adapter or via a current tap to a receptacle outlet.

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or injury to persons:

• Use this HCOA only for its intended use as described in these instructions and UL 2930 standard.

• Never operate this HCOA if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, if it has been

dropped or damaged, or dropped into water.

• Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.

Grounding Instructions

Mounting

WARNING: Risk of Electric Shock - Connect this HCOA to a properly grounded Hospital Grade (“green dot”)

Outlet ONLY”

• Do not use outdoors.

• Do not place on floors.

WARNING: Risk of electrical shock. This product is only intended for use with a properly grounded duplex

receptacle outlet. Do not use in a single receptacle outlet or remove the grounding pin.

DANGER: Risk of Death or Serious Injury. Connect only AUTHORIZED medical equipment that has

been verified for safe touch and leakage current.

WARNING: After verifying the combined touch and leakage current, secure the unused receptacle covers

closed.

• The HCOA shall be used within its marked load rating.

• Use of this equipment in life support applications where failure of this equipment can reasonably be

expected to cause the failure of the life support equipment or to significantly affect its safety or

effectiveness is not recommended. Do not use this equipment within oxygen-enriched atmospheres, or

within 0.3 m of a point at which an oxygen-enriched atmosphere is intentionally vented.

This product must be grounded at all times when in use and when used within a Patient Care Vicinity. If malfunction or

insulation breakdown occurs, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of

electric shock. This product is equipped with a cord that contains a special integral equipment-grounding conductor and

grounding plug. The plug must be connected to a duplex outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with

all local codes and ordinances. This product also includes an attachment plug with integral patient equipment grounding

pin, which must be connected to the duplex receptacle before use within any Patient Care Vicinity (6 ft. / 1.8 m), beyond

the patient bed, chair, table, treadmill or other device that supports the patient during examination and treatment.

DANGER - Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor and Patient Equipment Grounding Conductor can

result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician, technician or service person if you are in doubt as to

whether the product is properly grounded.

This HCOA is intended to be mounted to benches, stands, carts or other areas containing multiple cord-and-plug

connected medical electrical equipment that is intended and authorized for use in a patient care (both patient care

“category 2” or critical care “category 1”) location.

Mounting may be permanent (requiring a tool to remove) or temporary (can be removed from without the use of a tool,

i.e., keyhole slots).

Mount and position to prevent any liquid from entering the HCOA.

• Un HCOA no se diseñó para ser conectado en serie (“encadenado”) a otros HCOAs, Tomas de Corriente

Reubicables, Unidades de Distribución de Energía en Mobiliario o Cables de Extensión.

• Un HCOA no se diseñó para ser colocado directamente en el piso de un área de cuidado de pacientes.

• Un HCOA no está diseñado para conectarse mediante un adaptador de conexión a tierra o mediante un contacto de

potencia a un tomacorrientes.

ADVERTENCIA: Para reducir el riesgo de incendios, descargas eléctricas o lesiones personales:

• Use este HCOA solo para su uso previsto como se describe en estas instrucciones y en la norma UL 2930.
